FAQ

Below you will find some of the frequently asked questions from our customers.

However, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions or need more information in order to take a decision to tune your particular vehicle.

Our ECU re-mapping optimises the power and torque of the engine within the manufacturer’s safety limits, not pushing them to extreme levels. All engines have inbuilt tolerances for all its parts in order to manage the usage over many years and many kilometres. These tolerances are normally very big as the manufacturers need to keep any warranty claims to a minimum as result of a faulty engine.

All of our ECU tuning software files are developed on Dyno Jets in the company headquarters in the UK with the help of two state of the art 4 wheel drive linked dynamometer with full engine analysis capabilities to ensure our developments are providing you with the best power increases on the market whilst maintaining optimum reliability for your engine.

Our investment in dyno facilities means that our development programmes can work side by side allowing us constantly adjust the parameters while the car is on the Dyno Jet making sure  all tuning files have been engineered specifically to your specific car and exact model and within the safety margins of the car’s engine.

Each of our tuning kits is Dyno Jet and road-tested by our experienced test drivers before it’s available for installation.

We also carry a 1-year free engine warranty. For all vehicles less than 3 years old and under 96,000 kilometres we offer a free 12 month/48,000 kilometre warranty which is to cover mechanical repairs relating to the remap in the event of a customer losing their manufacturer’s warranty. We do not provide any implied warranty on vehicles outside of manufacturer’s warranty or older than 3 years or 96,000 kilometres.

We also offer a lifetime warranty against any of our ECU software faults.

A professionally installed ECU tune will not cause any technical faults with a well serviced and maintained engine.

The answer is Yes. Remapping is classed as a modification to YOUR vehicle even though it’s not a visual alteration. However, we advise all our customers to inform their insurance company of any modifications made to the car or it could invalidate your policy.

Modern car dealer diagnostics tools have been improved to detect for tuning remap or a tuning box. As the only modification is inside the engine management file, no visual or mechanical changes are done to the car, so if the manufactures aren’t specifically looking for changes of the specific parameters, it will not be detected. Despite what other companies may say, there is always a chance that the car dealer can detect if the car has been tuned and all tuning carried out on your vehicle is at your discretion.

If you wish we can reset your car before you take it to the dealership for service or software updates. We then upload the already tuned file to the car afterwards free of charge.

For peace of mind we offer a free 1 year engine warranty. Yes, the normal emissions tests done at the ITV/MOT will not detect any abnormal increases to the NOx, HC, CO, CO2, Soot emissions compared with original levels.

Manufacturers generally sell one vehicle that covers various markets, with local variations in emissions regulations, and different grades of fuel and different climate zones around the world. A car manufacturer has to consider a lot of factors before they release a new engine to fit a wide range of markets.

Also, a cars power plant and drive train consist of various parts manufactured by third party companies. The companies also “de-tune” their components in order to NOT be the part of the puzzle that break and will get a recall or claim lodged against them. So, by default the engine is “de-tuned” on many levels and therefore if you have the proper knowledge, experience and tools the engines “true” potential can be unleashed with an ECU tune.

Also, many manufactures have several different models using the same engine size and cylinders but have different power figures. Often the hardware is the same but it’s the engine software that makes the difference.

To inform the insurance company is the client’s responsibility and we advise them to do so. Any modifications to the car should always be reported.

  1. Use our car search function to find your car and see the potential increase in horse power and torque
  2. Contact us to book a time for the tune
  3. After the tune, enjoy your new car and driving experience
  4. All our clients are invited to be members in our super cars club free of charge so you can stay informed of upcoming car events, track days and trips around Spain and Europe

We are very confident that our ECU tuning will improve both your engine performance and fuel economy.  If you are not 100% happy with the tuning results, you have 14 days to get back to us for a 100% refund and we reset your car back to how it was before the tune.

Yes, our ECU software provider keeps the original ECU file in a secure external digital storage, should you ever require your vehicle to be converted back to original. We will re-install it free of charge of course.

There are too many varying factors to be able to give a price on our website. Normally price range from 295 EUR up to 995 EUR. For custom builds/tunes the cost will vary dependent of work carried out.

Please send us a quote request with full information of your vehicle; make, model, year, engine size and horse power output etc so we can send a complete report on price and performance gains etc.

The time to tune the car depends mainly on the type of ECU the car is fitted with. From EDC’s requiring chip tuning up to the more modern MEDC17 locked Tricore processor with tuner protection. The different types of ECU´s require different set of tools and skillset. From a simple OBD II tune to a more complex operation by removing and opening the ECU and solder directly on to the circuit board. All of this require a special attention to details and we have special checklists to make sure we carry out the work perfectly and with zero tolerance for mistakes.

For a simple OBD II tune we calculate 1-3 hours of work. For a more complex tune we need to add approx. 1 hour.

Also we need to set aside time to do the diagnosis of the car together with a test drive to make sure the car is healthy and fit to receive a ECU tune. We repeat both the diagnosis and test drive after the software modification have been uploaded.

So a tune can take from 1,5 hour to several hours. If you need a car or transport we can arrange that. If you want we can come to your home or work place to perform the tune.

WHAT’S THE PROCEDURE?

THE PROCEDURE TO TUNE THE ORIGINAL ECU IS SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD

  1. We do a visual and mechanical inspection of the vehicle to spot any obvious faults with the car such as oil leaks and abnormal engine noises
  2. We do a full diagnosis of the car, by connecting our diagnostic tools to the car’s computers. This way we can see if there are any error codes that can obstruct a fully successful tune
  3. We download the original ECU file from the car computer and send it to the headquarters in the UK for optimisation. We also add information about the car. For example, amount of KM, any modifications to exhausts, air filters etc. All of which will be adjusted for in the new modified file
  4. After the file has been optimized we upload the new ECU file to the cars ECU to change the parameters to make your cars run more optimal
  5. After uploading the new file, we do a full diagnosis again to ensure no error codes have been triggered using the new ECU file
  6. We test drive the car to make sure handles as expected
  7. The whole process takes 1-3 hours depended on the type of the ECU and modifications requested
